North Brother Island is an enigmatic no man's land, lying in the East River between the Bronx and Riker's Island (New-York, USA). Matthew Schlanger, a Nyack, (NY, USA) resident with a sailboat and a keen sense of adventure, accompanied a friend to visit the abandoned chunk of land back in 2007.

Matthew Schlanger brought along a stereoscopic 3D camera, and later decided to turn the series of photographs into the book available now available as an e-book ready to be downloaded to your iPad.

Legacy of the Gods http://www.stereoscopynews.com/hotnews/3d-movies/documentary/3141-legacy-of-the-gods.html http://www.stereoscopynews.com/hotnews/3d-movies/documentary/3141-legacy-of-the-gods.html

Legacy of the Gods is a 3D stereoscopic documentary in the making right now in 2013. The Nepal segment of the film was presented on May 17, 2013 at the Cannes Festival. Release date in not yet confirmed but is expected sometimes in 2014.

Stunning 3D footage, never-before experienced areal shots taken from remote-controlled multicopters, frame rates of 48 fps (frames per second) or more, ensuring "Hobbit-like" rock-steady images and the 7.1 multi channel Dolby surround sound make this film the forerunner of a brand new genre.

A Documentary like no other

… All around the globe, Jochen Breitenstein and his team at CineMonde (San Diego, USA and München, Germany) find sites of worship, testimony and clues to the depth of human faith and reverence – the bow before the Creator. And as different the testimonies and clues to profound faith may manifest themselves in the cultures of different peoples, it still appears as if they all had one common origin … BECAUSE EVERYTHING THAT DIVIDES US FROM ONE ANOTHER ALSO UNITES US!

Ancient churches, carved right out of the mountain side, mystical temple ruins in the middle of a dense jungle, elegant mosques amid the hustle and bustle of Souks, stirring processions in honor of the Blessed Virgin, mixed with heathen elements, archaic cremations beside sacred rivers, lively monasteries in the Himalayas and gigantic necropolis in the desert – all of them sites of human devotion.

New Autostereoscopic 2D/3D Switchable Display http://www.stereoscopynews.com/hotnews/stereoscopic-displays/autostereoscopic-displays/3138-new-autostereoscopic-2d-3d-switchable-display.html http://www.stereoscopynews.com/hotnews/stereoscopic-displays/autostereoscopic-displays/3138-new-autostereoscopic-2d-3d-switchable-display.html

Japan Display has developed a 12.2-inch (30cm) diagonal high resolution LCD display panel switchable between true 2D and true 3D autostereoscopic modes. By employing a variable parallax barrier to show stereoscopic 3D images without glasses, Japan Display enabled to switch between 2D and 3D display modes and to change the viewing direction of 3D images. Also, to optimize the 3D viewing area, the company synchronized the variable parallax barrier with a head-tracking system.

The 2D/3D switchable LCD display can be used in car navigation systems, in order to track the driver's head position and produce the appropriate 3D images. This display resolution in 2D-mode is 720 HD (1920 x 720 pixels), becoming in 3D-mode a still very comfortable (dual) 960 x 720 pixels.

Like most of us, you are tired of that cardboarding effect we are seeing in so many stereoscopic 3D movies -converted or native- and you want to avoid it at all cost in your own movies?

Phil Streather, 3D stereoscopic movies producer and consultant will speak about "Make your 3D satisfyingly deep and voluminous!" this May 20th, 2013 from 4pm - 5.15pm at the Watershed Cultural cinema in Bristol, UK in the scope of the "3D film session".

Upside Down Released in Blu-ray 3D Format http://www.stereoscopynews.com/hotnews/storage-a-support/3d-blu-ray/3135-upside-down-released-in-blu-ray-3d-format.html http://www.stereoscopynews.com/hotnews/storage-a-support/3d-blu-ray/3135-upside-down-released-in-blu-ray-3d-format.html

Imagine Romeo and Juliet living on twinned worlds with gravities that pull in opposite directions—he on the poverty-stricken planet below, she on the wealthy, exploitative world above. UPSIDE DOWN is a visually stunning romantic adventure that poses the question: what if love was stronger than gravity?
Stunning visuals but a sometimes flawed scenario means critics have mixed feelings about the movie. But the good news are that the stunning visuals will be available in stereoscopic 3D on Blu-ray 3D from June 2013.

"Visual eye-candy from start to finish neves ceases to amaze"
