Leonar3Do 3D educational system
Another little gem discovered at CES2013: Leonar3Do's (Budapest, Hungary) virtual reality 3D stereoscopic educational system is comprised of three parts, the content, the app-building environment Edit, and Vimensio Play, where you interact with the virtual 3D app environment.
Interaction is done with a device called "The Bird", a kind of spikey-looking hand held force-feedback flying mouse. They are also working on a way to use your smartphone as input device. Watch this space next year after CES 2014 or the 2013 intro video here under!
SIG3D is Born
The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) have taken a step in the right direction with interest in stereoscopic 3D and its effects on education. The group is called SIG3D which stands for the Special Interest Group for 3D Education. It was formed as a place to bring together educators, researchers, developers and innovators and a place to showcase high quality resources for the growing stereoscopic 3D community.
Stereoscopic 3D Seminar at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival
If you attend the Abu Dhabi Film Festival, you will be happy to attend the Advanced Stereoscopic 3D Seminar and Master class given by Clyde de Sousa from Realvision (UAE) on October 14th, 2012.
Best of all, it’s free to attend while seats last, as it’s sponsored by the Film Festival.
Stereoscopy Fundamentals Workshop Available Online
Video2Brain (Graz, Austria) is Europe’s premier source for video training. Video2Brain released the "Stereoscopic 3D Motion Graphics Workshop" video in August 2012.
In this workshop, you’ll work along with Angie Taylor as she uses After Effects to create a title sequence in stereoscopic 3D. Along the way you’ll learn the fundamentals of how stereoscopy works and how After Effects creates the illusion of depth in a moving image. You’ll also see how to combine 2D tracking and some basic stereoscopic 3D animation to create a 3D tracking effect, and how to work with effects, transparency, and styles.
