Samsung First Single-lens 3D Camera

. Posted in 3D Cameras, 3D Rigs, 3D shooting

The Samsung NX300 45mm F1.8 2D/3D lens is claimed to be the world’s first one-lens 3D system, capable of capturing both stills and 1080p Full HD video in perfect 3D quality (Note that there was a Panasonic DMC-GH2S + H-FT012 3D lens claiming that back in 2010). Offering 20 megapixels  (5472x3648 pixels) and a 3.31" (84 mm) display, the NX300 is 3D enabled thanks to a new specific 45mm 2D/3D lens pictured here under.

The NX300 once again raises the bar for compact system cameras (CSC), delivering an outstanding combination of features, functionality and style for perfect shooting in every moment. Samsung also announces the new NX 45mm F1.8 2D/3D lens, the first one-lens 3D system capable of capturing both still images and full HD movies in perfect 3D quality.

NX300 Offers WiFi too

The NX300’s Wi-Fi connectivity of Smart Camera allows users to share their photos instantly and securely between their camera and smartphone (or tablet). To connect a smartphone to the camera, users simply need to download the Samsung Smart Camera App., which is available on both Android and Apple application markets.

The 3D Lens

The Samsung 45mm 2D/3D lens (sold separately) opens up an exciting world of 3D imaging possibilities and is the world’s first one-lens 3D system for a consumer camera. Capable of capturing both still pictures and full 1080p HD video, the Samsung NX300 and 45mm 2D/3D lens kit have become the only compact system camera supporting both 3D still and 3D movie. The NX300 is also compatible with Samsung’s entire range of NX lenses and professional standard accessories, giving users an unparalleled range of options when striving for that perfect shot.

When you flip the switch on the side of the lens from 2D to 3D, two little liquid crystal doors appear  (see picure above). When shooting video these little doors alternatively block light from one side and then the next 30 times per minute. The 3D effect is created by interlacing the images from both perspectives (3D Full HD 1920x1080 pixels @ 30 fps).

Details of the internal optics of the new lens will be revealed at the CES Samsung Press Conference in Las Vegas, NV, USA on January 7, 2013 14:00.
