Mad Max 4 Fury Road 3D : Plans are Changed

. Posted in 3D Blockbusters

Plans to shoot the fourth Mad Max film, Fury Road, in original stereoscopic 3D have been scrapped and it will now be converted to 3D in the postproduction. Two reasons : 1) the DALSA prototype cameras are as reliable and efficient as planned  and 2) post conversion is now far better. So, George Miller and John Seale will be used the proved and acclaimed 2D ARRI Alexa Plus and Alexa M cameras (plus some cheaper sacrificial cameras bolted on vehicules promised to destruction).

The trouble-plagued production is currently filming in the poverty-stricken African nation of Namibia aftera shift from its original location in Broken Hill, Australia where rain transformed the desert in a flower field just before shooting start. It is understood that the production is still being made with Australian crew and the vast majority of expenditure will still count as part of the 40 per cent producer offset tax rebate offered in Australia.

Charlize Theron shaved her head for the stereosopic movie to play Furiosa; she will co-star along Tom Hardy, taking over Mel Gibson's leading role Max.

The stereoscopic film stars Charlize Theron, who recently shaved her head for the role (see the above unauthenticated paparazzi shot or a more realistic but less sexy one in HollywoodReporter), and Tom Hardy. The firstMad Max  film was released in 1979 with Mel Gibson in the lead role.

Besidez Charlize, the vehicules are the other stars in Mad Max movies. People spent hours locating them on Google Earth somewhere in Sydney's Fairfield suburb. Check your self if you are able to find them!
