Francis Ford Coppola Debuted with a 3D Short when at School
When Francis Ford Coppola was a student at USC Film School he worked on a 18-minutes color 3D stereoscopic movie that was interpolated into an English-dubbed black-and-white German film released in the United States as "The Bellboy and the Playgirls".
Now, a two-minute excerpt of this stereoscopic oddity, featuring buxom Playboy model June Wilkinson, has debuted on Blu-ray 3D as part of a just-released collection called "3-D Rarities".
Aurora Borealis 3D
Ikuo Nakamura, an award-winning Japanese filmmaker, is maybe the first artist to shoot the aurora borealis in stereoscopic 3D format. Ikuo Nakamura did it in the Northwest Territories.
Ikuo Nakamura captured the Northern Lights in 3D, creating a stereoscopic image of the phenomenon by placing 2 cameras 5 miles apart. The 11-minute short was projected along with "Cave of Forgotten Dreams" at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (Brooklyn, USA) on May 3, 2015.
"Above Us All" Featured at L.A. 3D Film Fest Closing Night
The 3D HFR movie 'Above Us All' by Eugenie Jansen, NL, and stereographed by the Belgian stereographer Kommer Kleijn SBC, was selected as closing night feature for the 11th L.A. 3D FILM FEST in downtown Los Angeles, USA. The showing will take place today( Sunday night, December 14, 2014) at the Downtown Independent Theater in Los Angeles.
This November the movie already won the 'Best Feature' award in the 3D IMAGE festival in Lodz, Poland.
