Little Mermaid 3D goes Belly-up
3D conversion of the Lion King was a success (506 M$ worldwide) but the Box Office performances for re-releases of "Monsters, Inc.," "Finding Nemo" and "Beauty and the Beast" in stereoscopic 3D have been far from stellar, so Disney has cancelled plans for the September release of "The Little Mermaid 3D".
As a compensation, Disney announced "The Muppets 2" for March 21, 2014 and the 5th "Pirates of the Caribbean" for July 10, 2015. Also annouced: "1952", a science-fiction 3D stereoscopic movie directed by Brad Bird (Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol) that will reach our silver screens on December 19, 2014. The company also said it would release two of its Marvel big-budget films in 3D next year: "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and "Guardians of the Galaxy."
