First Sneak Peek of Titanic 3D

This morning at The O2 in London, a selected panel was able to have a look at the remastered 3D version of Titanic, which will be released next year for the 100th anniversary of the disaster in April 2012.

Child of Eden on the PS3

Ubisoft and Sony Computer Entertainment have announced details of the upcoming Child of Eden for PS3. Child of Eden is a rhythm action game which lets the users dive into a kaleidoscopic matrix of synchronized music and some stunning 3D visuals. The game play is specially designed to support PlayStation Move and stereoscopic 3D. IGN rated the game a 8.5 out of 10 and they think it’s one of the best PS3/Kinect games.

3D User Experience Technical Summit

The 3D@Home Consortium’s 3D User Experience Technical Summit (3D-UETS) and International 3D Fair is scheduled for September 22-23, 2011 at the Hollywood & Highland Center, Hollywood, CA, USA.

Toshiba's first glasses-free 3-D notebook

Today Toshiba introduced the world's first autostereoscopic 3D notebook. The Qosmio F755 has an Intel Core i7 processor and NVIDA GeForce 540M graphics, as well as Harmon Kardon speakers, a Blu-ray drive and HDMI output. The screen is 15.6" in size and it can display content in either 2D or 3D. The Qosmio F755 will be available from 16 August 2011 for $1,699 in the USA.

ESPN3D moves to 5D

ESPN's 3D and 2D production now come off the same production trucks and cameras, a cost-effective solution some at ESPN have nicknamed "5D" (for 2D plus 3D).

"When we were doing the NBA Finals, there were two very large sets of trucks there, the HD fleet and the 3D trucks," says Jed Drake, senior veep and exec producer for ESPN 3D. "That's a very expensive proposition, but with 5D production, we're going to be able to produce more 3D because it's less expensive."

A new HDI 3D laser projector

HDI3D (Los Gatos, CA, USA) announces a new line of 3D projectors, to be releases in 2012. The LSS Pro 1 is a laser-driven 2D/3D switchable dynamic video projector to be used on 3 to 10 meters wide silver screens. The price range is 55,000$ (HDI Cube 120) to 80,000$ (HDI Cube 300).  It is a bit expensive, but the silver screen and one remote control (batteries included) are included in the price.
