LG Focus on UK 3DTV Early Adopters

LG (Korea) is switching the focus of its home entertainment division away from families towards an early adopter audience to reflect a change in the design of its stereoscopic 3D TV sets.

Marketing activity will be led by a stereoscopic 3D cinema campaign launching in May 2012, which will target ‘uncompromising seeker’ who place more emphasis on special features and design than on price. The electronics manufacturer will this year spend £10m marketing its TVs, with a focus on design, Smart TV and 3D capabilities.

George Mead, head of consumer marketing for home entertainment at LG, said the brand spent ‘95% of time talking about 3D’ last year. He said the company will shift its focus to a design emphasis because ‘there’s lots of consumer confusion in terms of what Smart TV and 3D give to consumers’.

Cheapest Active 3D glasses in the world

Do you know that the Samsung SSG-4100GB universal Radio-Frequency (RF) controlled stereoscopic active glasses are as cheap as 19.99$ or 18.99$ at our new StereoscopyShop? They are also extremely light at 23 gr. including the small battery.

Pairing them with your TV is easy as they don't require strict line-of-sight with the TV set, and the battery lasts a long time ( 150 hours according to Samsung) . However, this small coin battery is not rechargeable. With the price are coming a few cost-related problems: the glasses are fairly flimsy, the arms are quite short and the fit is not trivial if you wear prescription glasses.

Photoshop CS6 now Alioscopy-Ready

Alioscopy USA today announced that Adobe has integrated its Alioscopy autostereoscopic, 3D multi-view algorithm as a new feature in Photoshop CS6 Extended software.

As more and more digital imaging artists create content in stereoscopic and autostereoscopic 3D, Alioscopy offers a unique patented process for generating 8-view images for viewing and play-back on auto-stereoscopic 3D displays.

In Photoshop CS6 Extended, anyone with a 3D stereoscopic camera (left and right lens equipped) will be able to upload two-view images to Photoshop and convert it to multi-view (8-view) for display on an Alioscopy 3D screen

Additionally, artists will be able to generate 3D objects directly in Photoshop or in other 3D CGI software packages and apply the Alioscopy multi-view algorithm to create Alioscopy-ready content.
