Ang Lee is a true 3D hero daring to push the HFR enveloppe one step further: His "Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk" is the first movie ever shot in 120 frames per second (and 4K stereoscopic 3D).
In its world premiere, Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk was shown exactly as intended at the AMC Lincoln Square (New York City, USA). According to The Hollywood Reporter, it’s currently the only theater in the U.S. that can handle 3D 4K 120 FPS. A second U.S. theater is expected to get an upgrade to handle the format — possibly the ArcLight Hollywood. Elsewhere, there are plans in place for Billy Lynn to show in its full specs in at least one theater each in Taipei, Beijing, and Shanghai. But don't worry, less demanding formats are on the menu too. Watch Ang Lee explaining how and why here under.

SONAR is an immersive 3D stereoscopic movie, not a game. The app downloads a big video file in the background. You can wait for a minute or check your notifications for progress by taking out the Androidphone.

2D Sky maps are a bit boring. That is why Charlie Hoey decided to create a website with a real 3D representation of some 2 million stars.
The Gaia satellite (an ESA project) orbits beyond the moon and is carefully mapping the 3D position of every point of light it sees. Mr Hoey took the data and used WebGL to create his 3D Universe theater.
Try the 3D Universe theater here under (a strong graphic card is needed).
