Free 3D Training Course in London
This summer James Uren and his team at 3D Stories (Ravensbourne Hub, London, UK) is running a number of FREE courses that take a hands-on, practical approach to learning about 3D and how you can use it to enhance your production and your business. All you need to be eligible is to be a freelancer or director of an SME based in London.
At the time of writing this, only a couple of free courses were still available.

'3Days of 3D' workshop
The '3Days of 3D' workshop will beheld on August 24-26, 2012 at Hollywood Camera in Los Angeles, CA, USA.
The theme of the workshop will be 'How to be profitable with 3D'. This will be the first in a series of workshops worldwide. On hand will be professionals from the industry discussing 3D techniques. They will present the tools and tricks for making a profit with 3D.
There will be equipment on hand to for participants to get hands-on training. Free Edius 6.5, a $699 value, for all registrants that have paid 450$ for all 3 days of the workshop (limited offer). There will be lots of additional software giveaways and door prizes.

PHD position in 3D open in France
The IMAGINE team at INRIA (Grenoble, France) is looking for a PhD student on the topic of Learning-Based Camera Control for Stereoscopic 3D Cinematography (3 years contract).
Requirements : Masters in Computer Science or equivalent. Excellent academic records in machine learning and computer graphics.
Context : The PhD is funded by the French government as part of ACTION3DS project, a national research project coordinated by Thalès Angénieux, with the goal of building the next generation of stereoscopic 3D camera rigs for cinema and broadcast production.
