First Laser 3D Projector for G.I. Joe Premiere
Christie will use its brand new Laser projection technology for the Premiere of "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" at the AMC 16ETX theater in Burbank, CA,USA on March 28, 2013. For the first time, a regular paying audience will be able to watch a 3D stereoscopic movie "as god intended it to be", i.e. with a 14 foot-lamberts brightness instead of the more usual 3 to 4 f-l...
Having seen a few Christie laser demos before (including Scorsese's "Hugo" at the last IBC, we fully understand why laser will really change the way people think about 3D: something like from "nice" to "Spectacular!"
The Necsel Light Engine
Using red, green and blue lasers instead of a single lamp and then split this light into red, green and blue light, the new system has a far better efficiency. And being natively polarised, lasers do not need the addition of polarizers to conform the light for 3D stereoscopic projection, another brightness gain worth some more 50%.
