XBox 720 to Offer Full HD 3D
According to the rumor mill, Microsoft Corp. plans to release its next-generation Xbox video game console for the 2013 holiday season.
What the software giant is reportedly not sure about is whether to unveil the new Xbox at an industry event such as the E3 show in June 2013, or a separate event dedicated solely to the console, according to a source reported by XbitLabs.
3D Technical Details
According to the same set of insistant rumors, the Xbox 720 (the name itself is not 100% sure) is expected to feature six times higher compute performance than the Xbox 360, a Blu-ray disc drive, compatibility with Xbox 360 titles and numerous other innovations.
Microsoft wants Xbox 720 to be able to render games in Full HDresolution in stereoscopic 3D mode (180p format, 1920*1080 pixels for each eye), hence, the hardware under the hood should be very powerful even by today's standards. Note that the most successfull 3D console today, Sony's Playstation 3, is only able to display stereoscopic 3D in 720p.
