Jim Cameron's 3D evangelisation started during the dinosaurs era
Jim Cameron is the pope of 3D and the evangelist of 3D too. His campaign to convert every moving picture into three dimensions started 65 million years ago, we have learned at IBC this week.
After showing us large chunks of the breathtaking Titanic 3D (that will be released on 12 April 2012), Jim explained that he is teaming up with BBC for the big screen version of Walking With Dinosaurs.
J. C.' commitment to 3D is not a joke: he spent 18 M$ for the Titanic conversion. That amounts to only 65$ per image, but at 24 images per second and over 3 hours of film,....
James Cameron signed up with BBC for the dinosaurs but he is still convinced that BBC needs to jump in 3D with more enthusiasm than today, as already did BSkyB and ESPN. Most probably, BBC will also use Cameron-Pace experience and equipment for the Olympics 3D shooting next year (to be confirmed).
