3D Panoramas

Alain Hamblenne from Outline (Liège, Belgium) is a 3D panoramic photographer since the last century. His extremely high quality work is now seen as THE reference for super-high-quality stereoscopic (and 2D too) pictures. His last one is a remake of the Saint Jacques Church re-rendered with 21th century tools.

Shttoing was done with a single Nikon D300 DSLR camera and a Nikkor AF-S DX 18-70 mm lens. The "cha-cha" method was used - moving laterally the camera between the left and right takes-, a method not suitable for moving objects, but perfect for a church interior.

Software Processing

The panorama is created by stitching multiple pictures together with Kolor software: Autopano Giga and Panotour Pro.

An Apple MacBook Pro was used to run the DxO Optics Pro 7.2.1. pre-processing (pictured above with Alain Hamblenne) before stitching the numerous images while the last finishing were done with Photoshop CS5.

The final multi-resolution interactive virtual tour was then created with  Kolor Panotour Pro 1.8.0(pictured here above).
