3D Stereo MEDIA 2016 was a success by all accounts
The 8th edition of 3D Stereo MEDIA - the international summit for the science, technology, art, and business of 3D - held at Théâtre de Liège in Belgium ended on Thursday 15 Dec 2016 with its magnificent and traditional Awards evening, organized in collaboration with the Advanced Imaging Society of Hollywood, California.
Immerse Yourself in 3D Networking This Week in Belgium
Let's face it! We often decide to attend an event to have a chance to see old friends & to make new ones, and to explore project & business opportunities with existing & yet to be discovered, new partners. The organizers of 3D Stereo MEDIA (3DSM) have always paid attention to offering participants as many ways as possible to interact. E.g. they work hard to make sure that all participants to the various subevents can meet at least every 1.5 hours, during the coffee & lunch breaks. For eight years now, 3DSM brings scientists, engineers/technologists, artists, and business persons together, an absolute "must" at a time where 3D technology advances at lightning speed, and artists scramble to put them to the service of 3D storytelling. Several other social activities at 3DSM further enhance networking, such as the Networking Evening, Awards Dinner, and Awards Ceremony. This year, the BE.VR Meetup (see below) gives an additional networking opportunity. If you join us in Liège, please check with the registration desk attendants so as to take advantage of all networking opportunities. Last but not least, the networking power and creativity boost enabled by the highly convivial Christmas Village of Liège should not be underestimated, as several of our participants crossing whole continents and entire oceans will attest!

Don't Miss 3D-Auteurs in New York on November 11-29, 2016
"3-D Auteurs," a 19-day, 34-film festival spotlighting stereoscopic 3D movies by some of history's most distinguished directors, will run at Film Forum in New York, USA next month. The festival spans 3-D's earliest days (including some turn-of-the-century films by pioneer Georges Méliès) to the present, and represents virtually every genre, including Westerns, Film Noir, and Science Fiction.
3D in the 1950s was a cumbersome process that involved running two 35mm prints simultaneously (one for the left eye and the other for the right) with special filters for the projection booth windows, a silver screen, and polarised glasses. So-called "double-system" prints are therefore extremely rare, with places that can show them equally rare. Seven of those gems will be projected at 3D-Auteurs, including the only known 3D copy of Taza, Son of Cochise, starring Rock Hudson.
