Hitachi unveils new HD autostereoscopic glass panel
Hitachi (Japan) unveiled a new autostereoscopic LCD panel aimed for mobile devices. It's a 4.5" inch IPS-LCD that features 72°p HD resolution (1280x720, thus 326 pixels per inch). It uses a lenticular lens technology. Previous Hitachi models were 3.1" and 480x854 pixels only.
The new panel doesn’t require glasses to view pictures in 3D and has 400 cd/m2 brightness in 2D mode and 470 cd/m2 brightness in 3D mode. The company says their new screen can be used in portable TVs, cell phones or handheld game devices. It has not been said when Hitachi's display will become available or will it ever make it to a commercial device at all. Read more on gottabemobile.
